Governor Deval Patrick Is Coming To Visit Us!

Dear Friends,

deval_patrick_web84b29b03e5e0I am truly honored and excited to announce that Governor Deval Patrick is coming to Belmont to host an event for me. The event is both a campaign kick off and fundraiser and will be held Monday April 7, from 6-8 PM at Patou, the Thai restaurant in Belmont Center (69 Leonard Street).

This event is a special opportunity to hear from the Governor during his last year in office. Governor Patrick is an inspiring leader who reminds us all of what public service can be at its best. This gathering will be a chance for you to meet him, get a photo, share a story and thank him for his exemplary service to our communities.

The Governor’s presence also allows me to kick off my 2014 campaign campaign in fine fashion. In the coming years, I hope to continue my work on environmental protection, improved transportation infrastructure, better schools and social and economic justice.

Mark your calendar! Bring a friend! Join me, the Governor and your friends and neighbors for what should truly be a lively and engaging evening. (An RVSP by email is not required but would be appreciated to assist with planning).

I look forward to seeing you April 7th!

p.s. If you cannot make it, but are able to offer some financial support, please consider donating online. I cannot thank you enough for your support.

Dave Rogers

I am honored to be elected as your next state representative, and am so appreciative of your hard work on my behalf. Campaigns require a community effort, and I could not have reached this point without each of you, whether it be help canvassing, phone banking, telling your friends, financial contributions, holding a sign, or putting up a yard sign. Many, many thanks are in order.

I want to thank my opponents, Jim Gammill and Tomi Olson, for their respectful and well run campaigns. They are talented individuals who give an incredible amount to our community, and should be commended for their dedication to our district.

As we move forward to put our ideas into action, I believe we will strengthen our ties and accomplish great good for the towns of Arlington, Belmont, and Cambridge.

Sen. Will Brownsberger Endorses Dave

State Senator Will Brownsberger, who served Arlington, Belmont and Cambridge as state representative for five years before being elected to the state senate in January, has endorsed Dave’s candidacy. From the Belmont Citizen Herald:

Will Brownsberger Endorses Dave Rogers“I am pleased to endorse Dave Rogers for the State Representative seat. Dave is a smart, independent thinker whose practical, common sense approach will be valuable for the legislature as well as his district,” Brownsberger said. “Receiving Will’s endorsement is a great privilege and I am extremely honored by his support,” Rogers said. “Will calls it as he sees it and has a strong moral compass. He makes the right decisions, even when it is difficult, and stands up for all members of the community. I look forward to working with him in the legislature.”

Sierra Club Endorses Dave!

The Massachusetts chapter of the Sierra Club, the nation’s largest and oldest grassroots environmental organization, has endorsed Dave Rogers in his campaign to fill the newly-vacated Middlesex 24th district, comprising Belmont as well as parts of both Arlington and North Cambridge.

From the Belmont Patch:

Sierra Club Endorses Dave Rogers“”Dave Rogers has a strong history of working to protect and preserve the environment,” said Phil Sego, the group’s political chairman. “Dave proved his commitment to finding and implementing innovative solutions to climate change through his work with the Environmental Protection Agency, prosecuting corporate polluters, and serving as senior management at a clean energy company designing software to reduce the electrical impact of large buildings.”

“I am deeply grateful for the Sierra Club’s support and backing of my campaign. They are tireless advocates for environmental issues I care deeply about,” Dave said today upon receiving the endorsement. “They have a long, proud history of making Massachusetts a better place to live and work, and I look forward to working with them.”

SEIU 1199 Endorses Dave

This morning, Dave received the endorsementof 1199 SEIU! This endorsement illustrates his commitment to “creating jobs, supporting our schools and protecting healthcare services for the public.” As Dave received the endorsement this morning, he said, “The endorsement of 1199 SEIU clearly demonstrates my deep commitment to economic and social justice. The members of the largest healthcare workers union in the Commonwealth know that I have the skills and the commitment to advocate vigorously for a strong middle class and to support working families.”

From the Belmont Patch

“Dave Rogers is the real deal. I’m confident that as a state representative he will institute the changes we need to support our economy and working families,” said Joanne Formica, an 1199SEIU member at Boston Medical Center and a resident of Arlington.

Meet Dave

Dave on the Issues

We need to look beyond just test scores to provide schools where the whole child can flourish. I strongly support the “adequacy study” legislation currently in the State Legislature and I will fight to ensure that Arlington, Belmont, and Cambridge’s commitment to education is protected. More on my vision for education »   I will fight for strong enforcement of the laws that protect our environment and advocate for policies that help lead to development of the alternative energy sector and the creation of green jobs. With my work experience in the green energy sector and at the EPA always in mind, I will be a vigorous champion of environmental causes. More about protecting the environment »   I believe we must forge a comprehensive solution to our State’s transportation challenges, which must include a long-term revenue solution for the MBTA. I will work tirelessly to bring all relevant stakeholders to the table in order to fashion a state-wide solution to transportation and infrastructure issues. More about transportation solutions »   I will make controlling healthcare costs a top priority. One possible idea is to move away from a traditional fee-for-service cost structure and toward a so-called “global payments system” where healthcare providers are not paid based on each individual test or procedure, but a flat fee based on the type of condition being treated. More on how I would control healthcare costs »
